Kuluz-zayta wadh-dahanoo bihi, fa innahu yubaraku fee
When to Read
This practice is for general health and well-being, as well as specific ailments. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ encouraged the consumption and external application of olive oil. When seeking healing, one can consume olive oil and honey together, or take olive oil separately, reciting this supplication and other beneficial duas for recovery. It's particularly beneficial to do this after Fajr prayer, or any time one feels unwell, seeking Allah's Shifa (healing).
How to Read
When consuming olive oil mixed with honey, or when applying it for healing, ensure you have the intention of seeking Allah's help. Take a spoonful of honey and mix it with a small amount of olive oil. Before consuming or applying, recite Bismillah ('In the name of Allah'). You can also recite Surah Al-Fatihah, Ayat al-Kursi, and the Mu'awwidhatayn (Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas) over the mixture for added blessings. The key is sincerity and reliance on Allah as the ultimate healer.
Virtues & Benefits
The Quran mentions the olive tree, stating, 'and [He causes] a tree to grow forth from the Mount Sinai that produces oil and relish for those who eat.' (Surah Al-Mu'minun 23:20). This highlights its blessed nature. The hadith itself indicates that olive oil is blessed ('yubaraku fee'), suggesting it carries inherent goodness and benefits. Honey is also praised in the Quran: 'There emerges from their bellies a drink, varying in colors, wherein is healing for people. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who give thought.' (Surah An-Nahl 16:69). Combining these two natural remedies, blessed by Allah and His Messenger ﷺ, is a means of seeking physical healing, with the ultimate power resting with Allah.
