O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the cessation of Your blessings, the change of Your well-being, the suddenness of Your punishment, and all that You are displeased with. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief, I seek refuge in You from helplessness and laziness, I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess, and I seek refuge in You from being overcome by debt and from the tyranny of men.
Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min zawali ni'matik, wa tahawwuli 'afiyatik, wa fuja'ati niqmatik, wa jami'i sakhatik. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-hammi wal-hazani, wa a'udhu bika minal-'ajzi wal-kasali, wa a'udhu bika minal-jubni wal-bukhl, wa a'udhu bika min ghalabatid-dayni wa qahrir-rijal.

Virtues & Benefits
Addiction, in its many forms, can feel like a chain that binds a person, leading to despair and a sense of helplessness. This dua, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, offers a powerful shield. By seeking refuge in Allah from the cessation of blessings and the change of well-being, we acknowledge that true strength and stability come only from Him. The specific mention of seeking refuge from 'helplessness and laziness' directly addresses the internal battles often fought by those struggling with addiction. Furthermore, asking Allah to protect us from 'being overcome by debt and the tyranny of men' can be seen metaphorically; addiction can lead to financial ruin and social isolation, putting one under immense pressure. Reciting this consistently can bring peace of mind, reinforce a commitment to recovery, and foster reliance on Allah, the ultimate source of strength and healing.
