بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، تُرْبَةُ أَرْضِنَا بِرِيقِ بَعْضِنَا، يُشْفَى سَقِيمُنَا بِإِذْنِ رَبِّنَا
In the name of Allah, the soil of our land mixed with the saliva of some of us, our sick will be healed by the permission of our Lord.
Bismillahi, turbatu ardina biriqi ba'dina, yushfa saqeemuna bi'idhn rabbina
When to Read
This dua is traditionally recited when seeking Allah's healing for a sick child. It involves a symbolic act of mixing the soil of the land with one's own saliva, then reciting the dua while gently touching the child's forehead or the afflicted area. This practice emphasizes reliance on Allah and the natural remedies He has provided. It's a moment to turn to the Creator with deep sincerity, asking for His mercy and recovery for the little one.
How to Read
The practice described in the hadith involves taking a bit of earth, mixing it with a little bit of one's saliva (if possible, on a finger), and then reciting this dua. The intention is to seek a cure from Allah, using this as a means. Place your finger, which has the soil and saliva mixture, on the child's forehead or the painful part while reciting. It's crucial to do this with full faith in Allah's power to heal, understanding that the means (soil and saliva) are simply that – means, and the ultimate cure comes from Him alone.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua embodies the prophetic approach to seeking healing, combining reliance on Allah (Tawakkul) with taking appropriate means. It teaches us to address our Creator directly in times of need, acknowledging His sovereignty over all matters, including health and sickness. By using this specific supplication, we are following the Sunnah and seeking Allah's blessing through a method taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, fostering a deeper connection with Him during challenging times.

The Prophet (ﷺ) used to say when visiting a patient: 'Bismillahi, turbatu ardina biriqi ba'dina, yushfa saqeemuna bi'idhn rabbina' (In the name of Allah, the soil of our land mixed with the saliva of some of us, our sick will be healed by the permission of our Lord).' In another narration, Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: 'When any of us fell ill, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would rub the area where the pain was and recite the following (as mentioned above).'
