Sickness
Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 5742

O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove the affliction. Heal, for You are the Healer. There is no cure except Your cure, a cure that leaves no illness behind.

Allahumma Rabbal-nas, adhhibil ba's, washfi Antash-Shafi, la shifa'a illa shifa'uk, shifa'an la yughadiru saqaman.

When to Read

Life throws its challenges at us, and sometimes we find ourselves wrestling with illness – whether it’s a nagging cough, a heavy heart, or a whisper of spiritual unease. This profound dua, taught by our beloved Prophet ﷺ, is a powerful supplication for comprehensive healing. Recite it whenever you or someone you know is afflicted with any form of sickness, be it physical, mental, or spiritual. It's particularly poignant when visiting the sick, or as part of your daily remembrance for protection and well-being. It is a cornerstone of Ruqyah Shariyyah for seeking Allah's complete cure.

How to Read

Approach this dua with a heart full of **tawakkul** (reliance on Allah) and **yaqeen** (certainty). The Prophet ﷺ would often place his hand on the painful area when reciting this for himself or others. You can do the same, or simply raise your hands in supplication. 1. **Sincerity:** Understand the words, and mean them with your whole heart. 2. **Repetition:** While not explicitly mentioned for this specific dua, repeating it multiple times (e.g., three or seven times) can amplify your earnestness and focus. 3. **Combine with other acts:** This dua works beautifully in conjunction with other practices of Ruqyah, such as reciting Surah Al-Fatiha, Ayat al-Kursi, and the Mu'awwidhat (Surah Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, An-Nas). Remember, healing comes from Allah alone, and our duas are simply a means to seek His mercy.

Virtues & Benefits

This beautiful dua reminds us of a fundamental truth: Allah is **Ash-Shafi**, The Healer. It grounds our belief that all efforts and remedies are secondary to His divine will and power. By reciting this, you: * **Affirm Tawhid:** You declare that no one else can heal, deepening your reliance on Allah alone. * **Seek Comprehensive Cure:** The phrase 'a cure that leaves no illness behind' expresses a profound hope for holistic recovery, not just symptomatic relief, covering all aspects of physical and spiritual well-being. * **Follow the Sunnah:** You emulate the practice of our beloved Prophet ﷺ, earning immense reward and blessing. * **Find Comfort and Peace:** In times of distress, turning to Allah with these words brings solace and strength, knowing your ultimate source of help. May Allah grant us all a cure that leaves no sickness behind.
