O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female servant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is ever effective, and Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every Name that You have named Yourself with, or revealed to anyone in Your creation, or sent down in Your Book, or kept hidden in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Quran the spring of my heart, the light of my chest, the remover of my sadness, and the banisher of my anxieties.
Allahumma inni 'abduka, ibnu 'abdika, ibnu amatik, nasiyati biyadika, madin fiyya hukmuka, 'adlun fiyya qada'uka, as'aluka bikulli ismin huwa laka, sammayta bihi nafsaka, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqika, aw anzaltahu fi kitābika, aw ista'tharta bihi fi 'ilmil-ghaibi 'indaka, an taj'ala al-Qur'ana rabī'a qalbī, wa nūra sadri, wa jalā'a huznī, wa dhahāba hammi.

Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "No person suffers any anxiety or grief, and then says: O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female servant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is ever effective, and Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every Name that You have named Yourself with, or revealed to anyone in Your creation, or sent down in Your Book, or kept hidden in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Quran the spring of my heart, the light of my chest, the remover of my sadness, and the banisher of my anxieties – except that Allah will remove his anxiety and grief, and replace them with joy." (Sahih – reported by Ahmad, Abu Dawud, and Ibn Majah)
