يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ

O Turner of the hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion.

Ya muqallibal-quloobi, thabbit qalbi 'ala deenika

When to Read

This dua is a profound supplication for anyone feeling the sting of sadness and despair when tempted, especially when struggling to resist. It's perfect for those moments when you feel your resolve weakening, and the whispers of temptation seem overwhelming. Recite it when you feel a pang of regret after succumbing, or when you're facing a situation where you know temptation will be present. It's a plea for steadfastness in the face of life's trials, reminding us that our hearts are in Allah's hands.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and a deep understanding of its meaning. Picture your heart as something Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) can influence and guide. Raise your hands slightly if possible, with a posture of humility. Say it as if you are truly asking the One who controls all hearts to keep yours steadfast on the path He has ordained. Consistency is key; make it a habit during times of struggle or even as a preventative measure.

Virtues & Benefits

The primary benefit is seeking Allah's help to remain firm on His deen (religion). When we feel sadness or guilt due to succumbing to temptation, it's a sign of a living heart that desires goodness. This dua channels that desire into a direct request for divine support. It acknowledges our own limitations and places our reliance on Allah, the only one capable of truly stabilizing our hearts against the constant onslaught of temptation. By asking Allah to keep our hearts firm on His religion, we are asking for protection, guidance, and the strength to overcome our weaknesses.

Source & Authentication

‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr (may Allah be pleased with them) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: 'Indeed, the hearts of the children of Adam are between the fingers of the Most Merciful, changing them however He wills.' Then he said: 'O Allah, Turner of the hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion.' (Sunan At-Tirmidhi 3522)
