When to Read

This dua is particularly potent when embarking on a journey or setting out to explore new avenues for livelihood. It's an excellent supplication to recite before leaving home for business, seeking knowledge, or even for a purposeful trip, as it encompasses asking Allah for the best in all aspects of your endeavor.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and full reliance on Allah. Raise your hands if possible, with the intention of seeking His blessings for your journey and provision. Reflect on the meaning of each part: asking for knowledge that benefits, sustenance that is pure and lawful, and actions that are pleasing to Him. Make it a habit before commencing any significant travel for work or exploration.

Virtues & Benefits

This comprehensive dua captures the essence of seeking worldly and otherworldly good. Asking for 'rizqan tayyiban' (pure provision) directly addresses the desire for lawful and beneficial sustenance. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua, emphasizing its importance in seeking Allah's acceptance of our efforts and the purity of our earnings. Travel, in an Islamic perspective, can be a means of earning rizq, as Allah says, 'And whoever emigrates for the cause of Allah will find on the earth many spacious refuges and abundance' (An-Nisa 4:100). This dua helps align our travel and exploration with seeking that blessed provision.
