Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 774

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure provision, and deeds accepted.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan

When to Read

This dua is beautifully suited for the morning, as part of the Prophet Muhammad's ﷺ morning supplications. It's a comprehensive request that encompasses spiritual, material, and spiritual-action aspects of our lives. Reciting it when seeking Allah's blessing in your daily endeavors, especially when you intend to use your provision for good, is highly recommended.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, raising your hands as you might during other supplications. Understand the meaning behind each part: 'beneficial knowledge' that guides you, 'pure provision' that is lawful and pleasing to Allah, and 'accepted deeds' that bring you closer to Him. Imagine Allah accepting your efforts and using the wealth He bestows upon you for His sake.

Virtues & Benefits

This supplication is a powerful request for holistic well-being. Beneficial knowledge guides our actions, pure provision ensures our sustenance is earned lawfully and used for good, and accepted deeds are the ultimate goal of our worship. By asking for wealth *along with* these, we implicitly ask for wealth that enables us to gain beneficial knowledge, is itself pure (halal), and is used in deeds that are accepted by Allah. This aligns perfectly with the desire to spread good and charity, as such actions are a result of pure intention, lawful earnings, and knowledge of what pleases Allah.

Source & Authentication

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) woke up in the morning, he would say: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.' (O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure provision, and deeds accepted.)
