Rizq & Provision
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 2713

O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and Lord of the magnificent Throne, our Lord and Lord of all things, the Revealer of the grain and the date-stone, the Revealer of the Torah, the Gospel, and the Quran. I seek refuge in You from the evil of all things which You are seizing by the forelock. O Allah, You are the First, and there is nothing before You; You are the Last, and there is nothing after You; You are the Most显 (Zaahir - Apparent), and there is nothing above You; You are the Most Hidden (Baatin - Inner), and there is nothing nearer than You. Discharge our debt and make us free from want.

Allahumma Rabbas-samawat-is-sab'i wa Rabbal-'arsh-il-'azeem, Rabbana wa Rabba kulli shay', Faliq-al-habbi wan-nawa, Wa munzil-at-Tawrati wal-Injili wal-Furqan. A'udhu bika min sharri kulli shay'in anta akhidhun binasiyatih. Allahumma antal-Awwalu falaysa qablaka shay', Wa antal-Akhiru falaysa ba'daka shay', Wa az-Zahiru falaysa fawqaka shay', Wa antal-Batinu falaysa doonaka shay'. Iqdhi 'anna daynana wa aghnina min faqrina.

When to Read

This powerful dua is particularly fitting when facing difficulties in securing rightful inheritance, or when facing financial hardship that prevents one from obtaining their due. Recite it in moments of earnest supplication, perhaps after Salah, or during the times when duas are more readily accepted, such as the last third of the night.

How to Read

Recite with sincere intention and conviction, understanding that only Allah (swt) can truly bring about justice and provision. Focus on the meaning of the words and the attributes of Allah being invoked. Facing the Qiblah and raising hands can be part of the etiquette of making dua, though not strictly required for this specific supplication.

Virtues & Benefits

This comprehensive dua addresses several key aspects of seeking Allah's help. It acknowledges Allah’s absolute power and sovereignty over all creation. By seeking refuge in Him from all evil, it aims to remove any obstacles, seen or unseen, that might be hindering the just distribution of inheritance. Furthermore, it directly asks Allah to settle debts and alleviate poverty, a common consequence of not receiving one's inheritance. The mention of the revealed books highlights Allah's guidance and justice in all His commands, including those related to inheritance.

A'udhu bika min sharri kulli shay'in anta akhidhun binasiyatih. Allahumma antal-Awwalu falaysa qablaka shay', Wa antal-Akhiru falaysa ba'daka shay', Wa az-Zahiru falaysa fawqaka shay', Wa antal-Batinu falaysa doonaka shay'. Iqdhi 'anna daynana wa aghnina min faqrina,” Allah will remove his worries and suffice him from poverty.’
