Rizq & Provision
Hasan HadithSunan At-Tirmidhi 3563

اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ

O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful (provision) instead of Your unlawful, and enrich me with Your bounty, so that I am in no need of anyone other than You.

Allahummakfini bihalalika 'an haramika wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak

When to Read

This powerful dua is perfect to recite when you feel your financial situation is unstable or when you're facing difficulties. It's especially poignant during the quiet hours of the night, after Salah, or whenever you make supplicating to Allah. It's a comprehensive plea for sustenance that is both permissible and plentiful, enabling you to live a life pleasing to Allah and to support others.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and full reliance on Allah. Raise your hands, as is customary for supplication, and pour your heart out to your Creator. Understand the meaning deeply: you're asking Allah to provide for you in a way that keeps you away from unlawful earnings and to make you self-sufficient through His grace, so you don't need to depend on anyone else's potentially limited or conditional help. Making this dua consistently can become a beautiful habit, integrating reliance on Allah into your daily financial planning and aspirations.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates a profound request for *rizq* (provision) that is both ethical and sufficient. By asking to be sufficed with lawful earnings, we are seeking Allah's protection from the temptations of unlawful wealth, which can lead to spiritual and worldly ruin. The second part, 'enrich me with Your bounty, so that I am in no need of anyone other than You,' is a plea for complete independence from creation and total reliance on the Creator. This leads to contentment (*qana'ah*) and dignity. When Allah grants wealth in a lawful manner, it empowers you to fulfill your obligations to Him (like Zakat and Hajj) and to your family, and it opens doors to helping the less fortunate, fulfilling a vital aspect of our deen.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): A man came to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and complained that he was unable to pay his debts. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Shall I not teach you some words that, if you say them, Allah will pay your debt for you, even if it were as much as Mount Sir? You should say: O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful (provision) instead of Your unlawful, and enrich me with Your bounty, so that I am in no need of anyone other than You.'
