Dua for True Wealth Beyond Material Possessions

Rizq & Provision
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 1016

اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلاً مُتَقَبَّلاً

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure provision, and deeds that are accepted.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan

When to Read

This dua is particularly potent when recited after the Fajr (dawn) prayer. It encapsulates a holistic request for well-being, encompassing spiritual, material, and actionable aspects of a Muslim's life. Reciting it consistently can help shift one's focus from mere accumulation to seeking blessings that truly matter.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and full presence of heart. Raise your hands in supplication as the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us. Focus on the meaning of each part: seeking knowledge that benefits the soul and actions, provision that is lawful and pure, and deeds that are accepted by Allah, which is the ultimate measure of success. Reflect on what 'true wealth' means beyond just money and possessions.

Virtues & Benefits

This comprehensive dua asks for three interconnected blessings: beneficial knowledge ('ilman naafi'an) which guides our actions and understanding; pure provision (rizqan tayyiban) which is lawful and brings ease to the heart; and accepted deeds ('amalan mutaqabbalan) which are the true currency in the hereafter. This is true wealth, as it leads to contentment, spiritual growth, and success in both worlds, a wealth that material possessions alone cannot guarantee. Allah (SWT) says, "And whoever fears Allah – He will make for him a way out. And He will provide for him from sources he never imagined. And whoever relies upon Allah – He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose. Allah has made for everything a decreed amount." (Surah At-Talaq 65:2-3).
