Dua for Sustenance to Fulfill Our Deen

Rizq & Provision
Hasan HadithSunan At-Tirmidhi 3563

اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ

O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me with Your bounty, so that I may not need to ask from anyone other than You.

Allahummakfini bihalalika 'an haramik, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak.

When to Read

This is a profound supplication to recite at any time, but it's particularly potent when you are facing financial hardship, contemplating a new venture, or simply feeling the weight of worldly responsibilities. It's a prayer for *rizq* (sustenance) that not only meets your needs but also keeps you away from what is displeasing to Allah, thereby facilitating your focus on worship and righteous deeds.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and conviction, visualizing Allah (SWT) as the sole provider. Raising your hands in supplication can be a beautiful way to express your dependence and humility. Ensure you are in a state of purity if possible, and turn your heart towards your Creator. It is recommended to say it after every obligatory prayer, or during the times when duas are more likely to be answered, such as the last third of the night or between the Adhan and Iqamah.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua is a comprehensive request for sustenance that is both lawful and sufficient, directly addressing the spiritual and material needs of a believer. By asking Allah to suffice us with His lawful provision, we are essentially praying to be guided away from Haram earnings, which can burden our hearts and hinder our worship. The second part, 'enrich me with Your bounty, so that I may not need to ask from anyone other than You,' elevates the dua beyond mere financial gain. It's a request for contentment and self-sufficiency through Allah's grace, which allows us to dedicate our time and energy to fulfilling our religious obligations – praying, fasting, remembering Allah – without the constant distraction or compulsion of seeking help from creation.
