اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ
O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me by Your grace so that I am not in need of anyone other than You.
Allahummakfini bihalalika 'an haramika wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwaka
When to Read
This is a powerful supplication to recite regularly, especially when seeking lawful provision to support yourself, a spouse, and future family. It's particularly beneficial during times of financial struggle or when contemplating marriage, seeking Allah's help in establishing a blessed household.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, understanding that true richness and sufficiency come only from Allah. Raise your hands in supplication if possible, face the Qiblah, and focus your heart on the meaning of the words. It can be recited after prayers, during the times when duas are more likely to be answered (like the last third of the night or between the Adhan and Iqamah), or at any time you feel the need to ask Allah for sustenance.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua directly asks Allah to provide sustenance that is lawful (halal), distinguishing it from forbidden (haram) means. It also asks for self-sufficiency through Allah's bounty, freeing the believer from dependence on creation. By fulfilling these needs, Allah facilitates a stable foundation for marriage and family life, allowing the individual to focus on worship and good deeds without undue financial worry. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself taught this dua, indicating its immense importance for a believer's well-being and ability to establish a righteous family.

Narrated Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him): A man who had a writing came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I am a free man, but I have been enslaved.' He said: 'What is your ransom?' He said: 'I do not know.' He said: 'I will ransom you by the words which Jibril (peace be upon him) taught me.' And he said: 'Allahummakfini bihalalika 'an haramika wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwaka.' ('O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me by Your grace so that I am not in need of anyone other than You.') And the Prophet ﷺ said: 'If you have a debt as great as Mount Abu Qubays, Allah will pay it for you.' (Reported by Tirmidhi and graded Hasan Ghareeb by him, and also reported by Al-Hakim who said it is Sahih on the condition of Muslim, and Dhahabi agreed with him. Al-Albani graded it Sahih.)
