Rizq & Provision
Hasan HadithJami' At-Tirmidhi 3563

اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ

O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me by Your grace, so that I may not need to ask anyone but You.

Allahummakfini bihalalika 'an haramika wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwaka.

When to Read

This powerful dua is recommended to be recited when facing financial hardship or when seeking assistance for a loan. It's particularly poignant to say it before approaching people or institutions for financial help, trusting in Allah's provision first and foremost.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and complete reliance on Allah (tawakkul). It's best recited after the obligatory prayers, or at any time you feel the need for Allah's assistance. Raise your hands in supplication as you make this plea, and visualize Allah's mercy opening doors for you.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua directly addresses the core of seeking lawful sustenance and independence from creation. By asking Allah to suffice us with His lawful provision, we are essentially asking Him to guide us to permissible means and protect us from unlawful ones. Asking for richness through His grace emphasizes our dependence on Him and our need for His bounty, which is far superior to any worldly gain sought through means displeasing to Him. It fosters contentment and guards against desperation.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him): A man came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and asked him to lend him a slave. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'I have lent you six hundred Dirhams on condition that you pay it back.' The man said: 'O Messenger of Allah, would you not ask Allah to give me a way out of this?' The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Indeed, I will ask Allah to give you a way out of it.' Then he said: 'O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me by Your grace, so that I may not need to ask anyone but You.' *(Note: While the hadith mentions the Prophet offering a loan, the core dua taught is for seeking Allah's provision directly. This hadith demonstrates the Prophet's concern for his companions' needs and his teaching them reliance on Allah even in financial matters.)*
