O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the cessation of Your blessings, the change of Your protection, the suddenness of Your punishment, and all that You are displeased with. I seek refuge in You from the trials of the grave, and I seek refuge in You from the trials of wealth, and I seek refuge in You from the trials of poverty, and I seek refuge in You from the trials of the Dajjal. O Allah, cleanse my heart with water, snow, and hail. Purify my heart from sins as a white garment is purified from dirt. And keep me far from my sins as You have kept the east and west far apart.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to teach them (i.e., his Companions) to seek refuge in Allah in all circumstances. He would say: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min zawali ni'matik, wa tahawwuli 'afiyatik, wa faja'ati niqmatik, wa jami'i sakhatik, wa a'udhu bika min fitnatil-qabri, wa a'udhu bika min fitnatil-ghina, wa a'udhu bika min fitnatil-faqr, wa a'udhu bika min fitnatid-dajjal.
