Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 6369

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, I seek refuge in You from helplessness and laziness, I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess, and I seek refuge in You from the overwhelming of debt and the overpowering of men.

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-hammi wal-hazani, wa a'udhu bika minal-'ajzi wal-kasali, wa a'udhu bika minal-jubni wal-bukhli, wa a'udhu bika min ghalabatid-dayni wa qahrir-rijali.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua specifically asks for protection against several debilitating issues that can directly impact one's livelihood and mental well-being. Seeking refuge from 'helplessness and laziness' is crucial for maintaining the drive and effort needed for provision. Protection from 'cowardice and stinginess' helps in taking necessary steps for earning and in sharing what Allah has provided. Most importantly, seeking refuge from 'overwhelming debt and overpowering of men' directly addresses fears related to financial ruin and external pressures that could lead to loss of resources.
