اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ، وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ

O Allah, suffice me with what You have made lawful, instead of what You have made unlawful, and enrich me with Your bounty, so that I may not need anyone but You.

Allahumma-kfini bihalalika 'an haramika, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak.

When to Read

This is a powerful dua to recite regularly, especially after prayers, when waking up, or whenever you feel overwhelmed by debt or financial worries. It's particularly beneficial when you are actively seeking lawful means to earn a living and are striving to avoid unlawful sources of income.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, focusing on your need for Allah's provision. Ensure you are also taking practical steps to manage your finances, work diligently in lawful employment, and avoid extravagance. Combine this supplication with tangible efforts for financial stability.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to his uncle Al-'Abbas, is a comprehensive request for protection from unlawful earnings and a plea for self-sufficiency through Allah's grace. It encapsulates the essence of seeking halal rizq (lawful provision) and contentment, which are keys to true financial freedom and peace of mind. By asking to be sufficed by the lawful, one seeks to avoid the temptations and consequences of haram income. By asking to be enriched by Allah's bounty, one is seeking independence from reliance on anyone or anything other than the Creator.

Source & Authentication

Yahya related to me from Malik, from Ad-Dajjal ibn Abdur Rahman, from Abu al-Yasar, that he said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Whoever says: 'Allahumma-kfini bihalalika 'an haramika, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak' (O Allah, suffice me with what You have made lawful, instead of what You have made unlawful, and enrich me with Your bounty, so that I may not need anyone but You) once during the day, it is enough for him for the rest of the day. And if he says it at night, it is enough for him for the rest of the night.'
