Rizq & Provision
Hasan HadithSunan Abi Dawud 5089

O Allah, Restorer of the lost, Guide of the lost, guide me to my lost item by returning it to me, by Your Power and Authority. For it is from Your giving and Your grace.

Allahumma raddad-dallati, wa hadiyad-dallati, ihdini dallati bi-raddiha ilayya, bi-qudratika wa suldanika, fa innaha min 'ata'ika wa fadlik

When to Read

This dua is specifically recommended for when you have lost an item and are actively searching for it. It's a powerful way to turn to Allah when you feel helpless, asking Him not just to return the item, but to guide you to it, recognizing His power over all things.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, focusing on the meaning of the words. Visualize Allah's knowledge encompassing the lost item and His ability to bring it back to you. It's best recited during times of quiet reflection, perhaps after Fajr or before sleeping, or even as you are searching.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua directly appeals to Allah's attributes as the One who restores the lost and guides those who are astray. By reciting it, you are acknowledging His omnipotence and mercy, and seeking His direct intervention in your affairs. It fosters a deep reliance on Allah (tawakkul) and strengthens the belief that He is the ultimate provider and controller of all circumstances. The phrase 'For it is from Your giving and Your grace' reinforces the understanding that anything we have, including the return of a lost item, is a blessing from Allah.

Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us to say when we lose something: 'Allahumma raddad-dallati, wa hadiyad-dallati, ihdini dallati bi-raddiha ilayya, bi-qudratika wa suldanika, fa innaha min 'ata'ika wa fadlik.' (O Allah, Restorer of the lost, Guide of the lost, guide me to my lost item by returning it to me, by Your Power and Authority. For it is from Your giving and Your grace.) — Reported by Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him). (Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith 5089, graded Hasan by some scholars).
