اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ

O Allah, suffice me with what You have made lawful, instead of what You have made unlawful, and enrich me with Your bounty, so that I may not need help from anyone other than You.

Allahumma-kfini bi halālika 'an harāmika wa aghnini bi fadlika 'amman siwāk

When to Read

This powerful dua can be recited at any time, but it's particularly beneficial to make it a regular part of your supplications after the obligatory prayers (Salah). You can also recite it when you feel overwhelmed by financial concerns or when starting a new endeavor that requires provision. Making it a habit ensures you're constantly seeking Allah's blessings for your sustenance.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and conviction, truly believing in Allah's ability to provide. It's best recited with your hands raised, as is the Sunnah when making dua. Focus on the meaning of the words: asking Allah to protect you from unlawful earnings and to make you independent of others through His grace. Imagine His vastness and generosity as you ask.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua directly addresses two crucial aspects of seeking provision: purity and sufficiency. By asking Allah to suffice us with the lawful ('halal'), we are seeking protection from the temptations of unlawful earnings which bring neither peace nor lasting benefit. The second part, 'enrich me with Your bounty, so that I may not need help from anyone other than You,' leads to true contentment and reliance solely on the Creator. It liberates the heart from dependence on creation, which is a source of immense spiritual peace and stability. This contentment is itself a form of abundant provision. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ also taught us to recite Surah Al-Waqi'ah regularly, which is known for its connection to increasing provision: 'Whoever recites Surat Al-Waqi'ah every night, it will never afflict him poverty. And indeed, Al-Waqi'ah is Surat Al-Ghani [the chapter of wealth].' (Shu'ab Al-Iman 2071, graded Hasan by some scholars).

The Hadith narrated by Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) states that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught him a dua to recite: 'Allahumma-kfini bi halālika 'an harāmika wa aghnini bi fadlika 'amman siwāk.' (O Allah, suffice me with what You have made lawful, instead of what You have made unlawful, and enrich me with Your bounty, so that I may not need help from anyone other than You.)
