اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ
O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful (provision) instead of Your unlawful, and enrich me with Your bounty, so that I may not need anyone but You.
Allahummakfini bihalalika 'an haramik, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak.
When to Read
This dua is particularly relevant when facing financial hardship due to illness or disability, or when feeling overwhelmed by the need to earn a lawful living. Recite it with sincere intention during times of need, after prayers, or anytime you feel the burden of provision weighing heavily.
How to Read
Recite this dua with full conviction and trust in Allah. Raise your hands as you would in supplication. Focus on the meaning of the words, acknowledging Allah's power to provide and His command to seek lawful means. It's beneficial to repeat it multiple times, with a calm and hopeful heart.
Virtues & Benefits
This supplication directly addresses the core concerns of provision and avoiding unlawful means. It teaches us to rely on Allah's sufficient provision, which is always lawful and pure. By asking Allah to enrich us with His favor, we are essentially asking Him to open doors of opportunity and sustenance that are pleasing to Him, thereby protecting us from falling into haram in times of desperation. This reflects the Islamic principle of seeking permissible sustenance (rizq halal) as a means of attaining Allah's pleasure and a good life in this world and the hereafter.

Narrated by Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and complained about needing to earn money. So Allah's Messenger ﷺ taught him this dua: 'Allahummakfini bihalalika 'an haramik, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak.' (O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful (provision) instead of Your unlawful, and enrich me with Your bounty, so that I may not need anyone but You.) And the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Indeed, if you supplicate Allah with this, Allah will grant you enough provision, whether as much as would fill what is between the earth and the sky.' (Sunan At-Tirmidhi 3563, graded Hasan by the compilers. Other similar narrations can be found in Musnad Ahmad and Al-Hakim.)
