اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ، وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ

O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful (provision) instead of Your unlawful, and enrich me with Your bounty instead of relying on others.

Allahummakfini bihalalika 'an haramik, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak.

When to Read

This is a powerful dua to recite daily, especially after your obligatory prayers (Salat). You can also make it a habit when you wake up in the morning or whenever you feel a need to seek Allah's help in your financial matters. It's particularly beneficial when embarking on a new venture, seeking employment, or facing financial difficulties, reminding us to seek the Halal first and foremost.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, raising your hands if possible, just as the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us. Focus on the meaning of the words, truly asking Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) to grant you provision that is lawful and pure, and to make you independent of His creation. Believe that Allah is Al-Razzaq (The Provider) and that He will respond to your sincere supplication.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua directly asks Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) to protect us from seeking unlawful earnings, which can lead to spiritual and worldly harm. It also seeks contentment and reliance on Allah's grace, fostering an attitude of gratitude and freeing us from the need to depend on people. By prioritizing Halal provision, we ensure our sustenance is blessed and pleasing to our Creator.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'Ask your Lord for four things, and then say: Allahumma inni as'aluka al-jannah wa ma qarraba ilayha min qawlin aw 'amalin, wa a'udhu bika min an-nar wa ma qarraba ilayha min qawlin aw 'amalin. And then say: Allahummakfini bihalalika 'an haramik, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak.' (O Allah, I ask You for Paradise and what brings one closer to it, of speech or action. And I seek refuge with You from the Hellfire and what brings one closer to it, of speech or action. O Allah, I ask You for the good that Your righteous servants ask for, and I seek refuge with You from the evil that Your righteous servants seek refuge from. O Allah, whatever You decree for me of a matter, make its consequence goodness for me. And then say: O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful instead of Your unlawful, and enrich me with Your bounty instead of relying on others.) - This version is a synthesis of the meaning, focusing on the specific part requested. The full hadith includes other supplications.
