Dua for Divine Guidance to Manage Wealth Wisely for the Hereafter

Rizq & Provision
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 735

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا.

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.

When to Read

This powerful dua is best recited after the obligatory prayers (Fardh salah). It's a profound way to begin your day, seeking Allah's blessings for everything you do, including how you earn and spend your wealth.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, raising your hands as is the Sunnah when making personal supplications. Visualize the 'beneficial knowledge' guiding your decisions, the 'goodly provision' being earned and spent ethically, and your deeds, including how you manage your wealth, being accepted by Allah.

Virtues & Benefits

This supplication encapsulates seeking the best of this world and the next. Beneficial knowledge leads us to what pleases Allah, goodly provision (tayyib rizq) means wealth that is lawful (halal) and blessed, and acceptable deeds are those performed for Allah's sake with sincerity and according to the Sunnah. Managing wealth wisely for the hereafter is a direct outcome of embodying these three requests.

Source & Authentication

Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet ﷺ said: 'When the Prophet ﷺ used to finish his prayer, he would seek forgiveness three times and say: Allahumma Antas-Salam wa min-kas-salam, tabarakta ya Dhal-Jalali wal-Ikram. Verily, I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, the One Alone, without any partner, and that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger. Allahumma, protect me from the punishment of the Fire. O Allah, protect me from the punishment of the Hellfire (repeating three times). And he would say: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.' ('O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds.')
