اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلاَلِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ
O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful against Your unlawful, and enrich me by Your grace, by granting me independence from all other than You.
Allahummak-finee bi halalika 'an haramik, wa aghninee bi fadlika 'amman siwak.
When to Read
When the weight of debt presses heavily on your heart, and you feel overwhelmed by financial burdens, this is the dua you turn to. It’s for those moments when you've exhausted all your means, when you're diligently working to repay but still find yourself struggling. Recite it whenever you feel the need for Allah's aid in settling your debts, especially after your obligatory prayers, in your sujood, or during the last third of the night when duas are most readily accepted. It’s a powerful plea for relief and sufficiency, whether you owe a little or a lot.
How to Read
Approach this dua with sincere humility and firm conviction in Allah’s boundless power and mercy. Before reciting, make sure your intention is pure – you are asking Allah to help you fulfill your obligations and clear your name. Focus on the meaning of each phrase: You’re asking Allah to grant you sufficient **halal** provision so you don't have to resort to **haram**, and to make you rich through His favor, freeing you from dependence on anyone or anything other than Him. Remember, this dua isn't a substitute for effort; it's a divine support system that empowers your efforts. Continue to work diligently to repay your debts, seeking lawful means, and trust that Allah will facilitate the path for you.
Virtues & Benefits
The immense benefit of this dua is beautifully highlighted in the very words of the Prophet ﷺ to Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). Imagine the comfort in knowing that even if your debt "were like the mountain of Seer" – a colossal, seemingly insurmountable amount – Allah would settle it for you. This hadith teaches us that through this dua, Allah grants sufficiency, freeing us from the need to engage in unlawful dealings to make ends meet. It cultivates **tawakkul** (reliance on Allah) by reminding us that true independence and wealth come from His grace, not from our own limited means or the help of creation. Reciting this dua consistently strengthens your resolve, opens doors you might not have seen, and instills a deep sense of trust that Allah, the Provider, will indeed provide a way out of your financial distress. It shifts your focus from the problem to the All-Capable Solution.
