Dua for Blessed Provision and Accepted Deeds

Rizq & Provision
Hasan HadithIbn Majah 925

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and accepted deeds.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.

When to Read

The Prophet ﷺ used to recite this beautiful and comprehensive dua after the Fajr prayer. While this was a specific time for him, you can certainly recite it at any time, especially when seeking Allah's blessings in your provision and livelihood, and hoping for your efforts and good deeds to be accepted. It’s particularly powerful when you are about to begin your day, seeking your lawful provision, or whenever you reflect on the role of wealth in your spiritual life.

How to Read

Recite this dua with full presence of heart, understanding its profound meaning. As you say 'rizqan tayyiban' (good provision), reflect on how you desire your wealth and livelihood to be blessed, lawful, and pure – not a source of distraction or sin, but an enabler of good. Intend to use any provision Allah grants you as a means to earn His pleasure, whether through fulfilling obligations, giving charity, supporting your family, or performing Hajj. Remember to have firm conviction that Allah is the ultimate Provider and Acceptor of deeds, and your sincerity in seeking these blessings is key.

Virtues & Benefits

This concise yet profound dua encompasses three fundamental pillars for success in both this world and the Hereafter. When we ask for **beneficial knowledge** (*'ilman nafi'an*), we seek understanding that illuminates our path to Allah and guides our actions. When we ask for **good provision** (*rizqan tayyiban*), we are not merely asking for more wealth, but for sustenance that is lawful, blessed, and free from anything that would displease Allah. This is precisely how wealth transforms from a worldly commodity into a powerful *means* to worship. Good provision allows us to perform acts of charity, support our families, fulfill our Islamic obligations like Zakat and Hajj, and generally live a life of obedience without being corrupted or distracted by worldly possessions. Lastly, asking for **accepted deeds** (*'amalan mutaqabbalan*) is the ultimate goal — that all our efforts, including how we acquire and spend our provision, are pleasing to Allah and weigh heavily on our scales on the Day of Judgment. This dua ensures that our pursuit of worldly sustenance remains firmly rooted in our spiritual goals, turning our daily struggle for livelihood into an act of worship itself.
