اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ
O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me with Your grace, so that I am not in need of anyone other than You.
Allahumma-kfini bihalalika 'an haramika wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak.
When to Read
This is a powerful dua to recite when starting a new venture, beginning your workday, or whenever you feel the need to seek Allah's blessing in your financial pursuits. It's particularly relevant when faced with choices between lawful and unlawful means of earning. Making this a regular part of your morning routine, perhaps after Fajr prayer, can set a positive and blessed tone for your day's efforts.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, fully trusting in Allah's ability to provide. It's best recited with hands raised, as is customary when making dua. Focus on the meaning of the words – asking Allah to steer you away from haram and suffice you with His halal provision, and to make you independent of reliance on anyone but Him. Try to embody this sentiment throughout your work.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is a comprehensive request for sustenance that prioritizes lawful earning and contentment. By asking Allah to suffice us with what is halal, we are seeking protection from falling into unlawful means due to financial pressure. Asking to be enriched by His grace (fadl) means seeking a level of provision that goes beyond mere necessity, allowing us to live comfortably and even support others, all while fostering a deep sense of reliance solely on Allah. This reliance is the key to true peace of mind and independence from the anxieties of seeking worldly wealth through improper channels.

Narrated by Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): A client came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) who was complaining about his debt. He (peace be upon him) said: 'Shall I not teach you some words that if you utter them, Allah would remove your debt, even if it were as heavy as Mount Uhud?' He said: 'Yes, please do.' He (peace be upon him) said: 'Say: Allahumma-kfini bihalalika 'an haramika wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak.' (O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me with Your grace, so that I am not in need of anyone other than You.) — Sunan At-Tirmidhi 3563 (Hasan)
