اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ، وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ

O Allah, suffice me with what You have made lawful, instead of what You have made unlawful, and enrich me with Your bounty, so that I may not need anyone else.

Allahummakfini bihalalika 'an haramika, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak

When to Read

This powerful supplication is perfect for reciting at any time, especially when facing financial worries, seeking lawful provision for your family, or after completing acts of worship like prayer. It's a profound way to express reliance on Allah for all needs.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and a heart full of trust in Allah. It is recommended to raise your hands slightly as you supplicate. Focus on the meaning of the words, asking Allah to steer you away from unlawful earnings and to provide for you through His grace, making you independent of creation.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua is a concise yet comprehensive plea for lawful sustenance and independence from need. By asking Allah to suffice us with the lawful, we are seeking His protection from the haram, which brings both worldly and eternal detriment. The second part, asking for enrichment through His grace, shifts our reliance from people to the One who truly controls all provisions. This fosters contentment and reduces the anxiety associated with seeking provision.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him): A freed slave of the Prophet (peace be upon him) came to him and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I have committed something that incurs a punishment, so implement the Book of Allah upon me.' He said: 'Where is he?' It was as if they were looking for him. Then he said: 'He is here.' The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Did you not observe the prayer?' He said: 'How could I observe prayer when I did not do what was in it?' So the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Indeed, the statement of the People of the Book and the statement of Ibraheem: "Our Lord, make us submitters to You and [make] of our offspring a nation submitting to You..." (Al-Baqarah 2:128). And Allah said: "Whoever fears Allah, He will make a way out for him and will provide for him from sources he never imagined." (At-Talaq 65:2-3). And Allah said: "...and whoever relies on Allah, then He is sufficient for him." (At-Talaq 65:3). And the Prophet (peace be upon him) taught him this dua: 'O Allah, suffice me with what You have made lawful, instead of what You have made unlawful, and enrich me with Your bounty, so that I may not need anyone else.'
