O Allah, provide us with piety and suffice us from [following] our desires, and suffice us from what concerns us of the matters of our worldly life and our Hereafter.
Allahumma zawwidna bit-taqwa, wakfina al-hawa, wakfina ma ahammana min amri dunyana wa akhiratina.
When to Read
This comprehensive dua is perfect to recite before embarking on your Hajj or Umrah journey, during the journey itself, or even at the Miqat before entering the state of Ihram. It encapsulates the essence of seeking spiritual provision and protection for both this life and the next, which is the ultimate goal of the pilgrimage.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and a clear intention of seeking Allah's pleasure and acceptance of your pilgrimage. Raise your hands in supplication as you would for other duas, facing the Qiblah if possible. Reflect on the meaning of each phrase: seeking piety as the best provision, guarding against desires that can detract from the spiritual purpose, and seeking Allah's help in all matters, especially those that weigh on your mind regarding your deen and dunya.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is a powerful supplication for the pilgrim. Seeking 'taqwa' (piety/consciousness of Allah) is the ultimate provision for the journey, as it ensures our actions are pleasing to Him. Guarding against 'hawa' (capricious desires) helps us maintain focus and discipline throughout the demanding rituals. Asking Allah to 'suffice us from what concerns us' is a profound request for His divine management of our affairs, both spiritual and worldly, allowing us to dedicate ourselves wholeheartedly to the pilgrimage without undue worry or distraction. It encompasses the holistic well-being of the pilgrim.
