اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلاَلِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ، وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ

O Allah, suffice me with what You have made lawful, instead of what You have made unlawful, and enrich me with Your bounty, so that I may not need anyone other than You.

Allahummakfini bihalalika 'an haramika, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak.

When to Read

This is a beautiful and comprehensive dua that can be recited anytime, especially when you or your spouse are facing financial challenges, seeking new opportunities, or simply wishing for more barakah (blessings) in your provision. It's particularly poignant when making supplication after prayers or during times of sincere need.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and full reliance on Allah (SWT). Focus on the meaning of the words, understanding that true provision comes only from Him. It's recommended to raise your hands during supplication, as taught by the Sunnah, and to believe firmly that Allah will respond in the best way possible.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua directly asks Allah for lawful provision, protecting you from unlawful means, and for independence from creation through His grace. It encompasses seeking both material and spiritual richness, leading to contentment and freedom from need. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this to his uncle Al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) when he asked him for something, indicating its power in fulfilling needs.

Source & Authentication

Narrated 'Abdullah bin Ja'far: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) mounted me behind him one day and he said to me: 'Shall I not teach you two words which you will ask Allah with them?' And Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) taught me: 'Allahummakfini bihalalika 'an haramika, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak.' (O Allah, suffice me with what You have made lawful, instead of what You have made unlawful, and enrich me with Your bounty, so that I may not need anyone other than You).
