Rizq & Provision
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 2713

O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and Lord of the Magnificent Throne, our Lord and the Lord of all things, the Cleaver of the grain and the date-stone, the Revealer of the Torah, the Gospel, and the Quran. I seek refuge in You from the evil of all things You are seizing by the forelock. O Allah, You are the First, and nothing is before You; You are the Last, and nothing is after You; You are the Manifest, and nothing is above You; You are the Hidden, and nothing is closer than You. Settle our debts for us and make us free from poverty.

Allahumma Rabbas-samawat-is-sab'i wa Rabb al-'arsh il-'adheem. Rabbana wa Rabba kulli shay'. Faliq al-habbi wan-nawa, wa munzil at-Tawrati wal-Injili wal-Furqan. A'udhu bika min sharri kulli shay'in anta akhidhun binasiyatih. Allahumma Antal-Awwalu falaysa qablaka shay', wa Antal-Akhiru falaysa ba'daka shay', wa Anta adh-Dhahiru falaysa fawqaka shay', wa Antal-Batinu falaysa doonaka shay'. Iqdi 'anna daynana wa aghnina minal-faqr.

When to Read

This comprehensive dua can be recited at any time, but it is particularly beneficial to make it regularly, especially during times of need or when seeking blessings in your family's sustenance. Making it after obligatory prayers or during the blessed hours of the night (like the last third of the night) can also increase its impact, by the grace of Allah.

How to Read

Make this dua with sincerity and conviction, believing that Allah (SWT) is the ultimate provider. Raise your hands in supplication as taught by the Sunnah. Focus on the meaning of the words and imbue your heart with the reliance on Allah. It's also good to combine this with seeking forgiveness and making other supplications for your family's well-being and halal provision.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua is a powerful supplication for seeking relief from debt and protection from poverty. By asking Allah to settle debts and enrich you with His halal provision, you are directly addressing the means by which your spouse and family can be sustained. It acknowledges Allah's absolute power and ownership over all creation, thus strengthening your trust in His ability to provide. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this dua, demonstrating its importance and efficacy in seeking Allah's bounty and protection from hardship. It encapsulates a request for both immediate relief (settling debts) and lasting well-being (freedom from poverty).

Source & Authentication

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet of Allah (ﷺ) used to say: "Allahumma Rabbas-samawat-is-sab'i wa Rabb al-'arsh il-'adheem. Rabbana wa Rabba kulli shay'. Faliq al-habbi wan-nawa, wa munzil at-Tawrati wal-Injili wal-Furqan. A'udhu bika min sharri kulli shay'in anta akhidhun binasiyatih. Allahumma Antal-Awwalu falaysa qablaka shay', wa Antal-Akhiru falaysa ba'daka shay', wa Anta adh-Dhahiru falaysa fawqaka shay', wa Antal-Batinu falaysa doonaka shay'. Iqdi 'anna daynana wa aghnina minal-faqr." (Sahih Muslim 2713)
