Rizq & Provision
Hasan HadithSunan At-Tirmidhi 3233

O Allah, I ask You to enable me to do good deeds and abandon evil deeds, and to love the poor. I ask You to forgive me and have mercy on me. And when You intend to try Your creation with a trial, take me to Yourself without subjecting me to it. I ask You for Your love, and the love of those who love You, and the love of deeds which bring me closer to Your love.

Allahumma inni as'aluka fi'la khayratik, wa tark munakaratik, wa hubb al-masakin, wa an taghfira li wa tarhamani, wa idha aradta fi khalqika fitnatan fa tawaffani ilayka ghayra maftun. Wa as'aluka hubbak, wa hubba man yuhibbuk, wa hubba 'amalin yuqarribu ila hubbik.

When to Read

Recite this dua regularly, especially during the times when supplications are readily answered, such as the last third of the night, between the Adhan and Iqamah, and on Fridays. Make it a habit after your obligatory prayers.

How to Read

Recite with sincerity and conviction, raising your hands as you would for other duas. Ensure you are in a state of purity (Wudu). Focus on seeking Allah's pleasure and His guidance in finding a righteous spouse. Understand that marriage is a significant undertaking and a provision from Allah, so approach this dua with humility and reliance on Him.

Virtues & Benefits

This comprehensive dua, while not directly mentioning marriage, encompasses seeking Allah's help in all aspects of life, including finding a righteous partner. By asking for Allah's guidance to do good deeds and abandon evil, you are implicitly asking for His help in making choices that are pleasing to Him, which includes choosing a spouse who will help you in this life and the next. The request for 'the love of deeds which bring me closer to Your love' can include the deed of marriage, when undertaken for the right intentions and in the right manner. It fosters a mindset focused on pleasing Allah, which is the ultimate provision and source of all blessings, including a blessed marriage. (Refer to the general virtues of making dua and seeking Allah's help in all matters).

Source & Authentication

Tirmidhi narrated from 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to supplicate: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka al-huda wa-t-tuqa wa-l-'afafa wa-l-ghina.' (O Allah, I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and richness). Tirmidhi also narrated: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka fi'la khayratik, wa tark munakaratik, wa hubb al-masakin, wa an taghfira li wa tarhamani, wa idha aradta fi khalqika fitnatan fa tawaffani ilayka ghayra maftun. Wa as'aluka hubbak, wa hubba man yuhibbuk, wa hubba 'amalin yuqarribu ila hubbik.' (O Allah, I ask You to enable me to do good deeds and abandon evil deeds, and to love the poor. I ask You to forgive me and have mercy on me. And when You intend to try Your creation with a trial, take me to Yourself without subjecting me to it. I ask You for Your love, and the love of those who love You, and the love of deeds which bring me closer to Your love.) Al-Albani graded the second narration as Hasan Li-Ghairihi (Sahih At-Tirmidhi 3233).
