اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ
O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me with Your bounty so that I may not need anyone other than You.
Allahumma-kfini bi halalika 'an haramika wa aghnini bi fadlika 'amman siwak
When to Read
This powerful dua is excellent to recite during times of need, particularly when seeking lawful means to secure a home or any form of provision. You can make it a regular part of your supplications after prayers, during the times when dua is readily accepted (like between the Adhan and Iqamah, or while prostrating), or whenever you feel the need for Allah's abundant provision.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and certainty in Allah's ability to provide. Imagine Allah's vastness and His care for all creation. Ensure you are in a state of purity if possible, and turn your heart completely towards Him, seeking His help for a halal way to obtain a home, free from any unlawful means. Making dua for lawful earnings to buy or build a home is itself a halal pursuit.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua directly asks Allah to steer us away from haram (unlawful) means of sustenance and towards halal (lawful) ways. It fosters reliance on Allah alone ('tawakkul') and acknowledges that true richness comes from His bounty, not from people. Seeking provision through lawful means, especially for something as significant as a home, ensures the blessing (barakah) of Allah is present in that dwelling and for the family that resides within it. A home earned through halal means is a source of peace and security, pleasing to Allah.

Narrated by Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him): A creditor came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and he (the Prophet) said: 'What do you want to say?' He said: 'I owe this man money.' He said: 'Then ask Allah to pay it off for you.' He said: 'I have asked Allah, but He did not answer me.' He said: 'Then ask Allah for health.' He said: 'I have asked Allah for health, but He did not answer me.' He said: 'Then ask Allah to suffice you.' So he said: 'O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me with Your bounty so that I may not need anyone other than You.' So he (the Prophet) said: 'Do that.'
