Dua for a Difficult Birth and Blessed Child's Provision

Rizq & Provision
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim (for the first part), general supplication 6306 (related to making things easy)

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. O Allah, nothing is easy except what You make easy. If You wish, You can make hardship easy. My Lord, make it easy and do not make it difficult; complete it for us with goodness. O Allah, I ask of Your bounty, for indeed, no one possesses it but You. My Lord, grant me [offspring] from the righteous.

Bismillāhir-Raḥmānir-Raḥīm. Allāhumma lā sahla illā mā ja'altahu sahlan, wa anta taj'alul-ḥazna idhā shi'ta sahlan. Rabbi yassir wa lā tu'assir, wa tammim 'alaynā bil-khair. Allāhumma innī as'aluka min faḍlika, fa innahu lā yamliku-hā illā Anta. Rabbi hab lī minas-ṣāliḥīn.

When to Read

This dua is particularly beneficial to recite when facing a difficult labor or delivery. It can also be recited by expectant parents praying for a righteous and healthy child and for Allah's blessing upon their provision for the child. Reciting it regularly during pregnancy can bring peace of mind.

How to Read

Recite with sincere intention and complete reliance on Allah (Tawakkul). Focus on the meaning of the words and believe that Allah has the power to grant your request. It is recommended to raise your hands while making dua, as this is a Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Ensure you are in a state of purity if possible, facing the Qiblah.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua combines seeking ease from Allah during a challenging time like childbirth, acknowledging His power to remove difficulty. It also includes the supplication for righteous offspring, which is inherently seeking blessed provision in the form of a righteous child. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to ask Allah for His bounty, emphasizing that provision is solely in His hands.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to say when he faced difficulty: 'O Allah, there is no ease except Your ease, and You make ease and difficulty whichever You wish.' (Sahih Muslim 6306). The second part, 'Rabbi hab lī minas-ṣāliḥīn,' is a supplication made by Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) in the Quran (Surah As-Saffat, verse 100), and it is a beautiful prayer for righteous offspring.
