اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ مُبَارَكًا عَلَيْهِ، وَاهْدِهِ وَأَصْلِحْ لَنَا مِنْهُ.
O Allah, make him/her blessed upon him/her, guide him/her, and make him/her a source of righteousness for us.
Allahumma ij'alhu mubarakan 'alayhi, wahdihi wa aslih lana minhu.
When to Read
This dua is beautifully suited for reciting when a child is born, during Aqiqah (the sacrificial offering on the seventh day after birth), or at any time you wish to supplicate for your child's well-being, piety, and blessed future. It was narrated that Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: 'When a child of Adam dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (continuous charity), beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who supplicates for him.' (Sunan Ibn Majah, Book 12, Hadith 2202). While this hadith doesn't contain the exact wording of the dua, it highlights the immense value of a righteous child whose duas can benefit their parents. The dua itself is a supplication for that righteousness and for general blessings upon the child.
