Dua for a Bountiful Harvest and Protection of Crops

Rizq & Provision
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 1681

O Allah, bless our fruits, and bless our town for us, and bless our measure (ṣāʿ) for us, and bless our measure (mudd) for us. O Allah, suffice us with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich us with Your grace, so that we are in no need of anyone but You.

Allahumma barik lana fi thimarinā, wa bārik lanā fi qaryatinā, wa bārik lanā fi ṣā'inā, wa bārik lanā fi muddinā. Allahumma-kfinā bihalālika 'an harāmika, wa aghninā bifadlika 'amman siwāk.

When to Read

This is a comprehensive dua that can be recited at various stages of the agricultural cycle. It's particularly powerful when planting seeds, praying for rain, during the growth period, and just before or during harvest. Recite it whenever you seek Allah's blessing for your crops, your community, and your livelihood.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, focusing on the meaning of each word. It's best to face the Qiblah, ideally after a prayer or at a time when Allah is most likely to accept your supplications. Raise your hands as you make dua, a sign of earnest seeking. Remember that true provision comes from Allah, so this supplication is about seeking His divine intervention and blessing in your efforts.

Virtues & Benefits

This powerful dua encompasses seeking blessings (barakah) in fruits, the town (implying the entire community and environment related to farming), and measures of food, which represents the tangible produce. It also includes a profound request for lawful sustenance and self-sufficiency through Allah's grace, protecting one from unlawful means and reliance on others. This dua directly addresses the farmer's need for abundance, purity of provision, and contentment.

Source & Authentication

It was narrated from Anas that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'O Allah, bless our fruits, and bless our town for us, and bless our measure (ṣāʿ) for us, and bless our measure (mudd) for us. O Allah, suffice us with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich us with Your grace, so that we are in no need of anyone but You.' Anas added: 'And the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) lived with the people for three years before he had a lot of fruit, and he used to live with them and eat from their food. And he said: 'O Allah, bless their dates and their markets, and their measures and their ṣāʿ.' He said: 'And when the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was on the Day of Uhud, he said: 'O Allah, this is the sword of Allah and the sword of His Messenger. O Allah, do not let them have victory over us...'' (The rest of the hadith is about Uhud and not relevant here).
