اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ، وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ
O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me with Your grace, so that I may not need anyone but You.
Allahummakfini bihalalika 'an haramika, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak
When to Read
This powerful dua is perfect to recite before a meal, especially when feeling concerned about provision or seeking blessings in one's sustenance. It's also fitting when expressing gratitude for what Allah has provided, asking for His lawfulness and sufficiency in all aspects of life, including our food.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and contemplation, focusing on the meaning of asking Allah for lawful means and His independent grace. It's ideal to say it with raised hands (if appropriate, such as before a communal meal) or with hands placed on your lap. Utter it with a humble heart, recognizing that all provision comes from Allah alone.
Virtues & Benefits
This supplication addresses a core need: seeking lawful provision and independence from creation. By asking Allah to suffice us with His lawful means, we are actively seeking protection from unlawful earnings and sustenance. The second part, 'enrich me with Your grace, so that I may not need anyone but You,' is a profound statement of tawakkul (reliance) on Allah. It encompasses seeking contentment and freedom from dependence on people, trusting that Allah is the ultimate provider and the source of all sufficiency. This dua, therefore, not only blesses the food on our table but also purifies our means and strengthens our connection with our Creator.
