Hasan HadithSunan At-Tirmidhi 3522

يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ

O Turner of the hearts, keep my heart firm on Your religion.

Ya muqalliba l-qulubi, thabbit qalbi 'ala dinik

When to Read

Recite this dua especially during Ramadan, or whenever you feel the urge to complain about the difficulties of fasting, thirst, or hunger. It's also beneficial when you feel your resolve weakening in any aspect of your deen.

How to Read

Recite this with sincerity and a conscious heart, focusing on seeking Allah's help to remain steadfast. Understanding that our hearts are in Allah's control makes this plea more meaningful. It can be recited anytime, but is particularly poignant during moments of struggle.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua directly addresses the core issue: the heart's steadfastness. By asking Allah to keep our hearts firm on His religion, we are seeking the internal strength to overcome external discomforts like fasting difficulties and the temptation to voice discontent. It reminds us that our strength to endure comes from Allah. It also highlights the importance of consistency in our practice and seeking Allah's constant support.

Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'The son of Adam is being tested in his grave by angels named Munkar and Nakir. They ask him, 'What did you used to say about this man, Muhammad ﷺ?' He says, 'I testify that he is the servant of Allah and His Messenger.' They ask, 'What is the religion?' He says, 'Islam.' They ask, 'What is the truth of it?' He says, 'The Quran, I used to recite it, I used to believe it, and I used to stand in prayer.' Then it is said to him, 'Look at your seat in the Fire; Allah has replaced it with a seat in Paradise.' And he sees both of them. As for the hypocrite or the disbeliever, when asked, he says, 'I do not know; I used to say what the people used to say.' So they say to him, 'You did not know and you did not follow them.' Then he is struck with an iron mace. He cries out with a cry that is heard by all, except mankind. He is then brought back his life and his trial. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ also said: 'O Allah, Turner of the hearts, keep my heart firm on Your religion.'
