O Allah, grant my soul its piety, and purify it, for You are the best of those who purify it. You are its Guardian and its Master. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from knowledge that does not benefit, from a heart that does not feel humbled, from a soul that is not satisfied, and from a supplication that is not answered.
Allahumma ati nafsi taqwaha, wa zakkiha anta khayru man zakkaha, anta waliyyuha wa mawlaha. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min 'ilmin la yanfa', wa min qalbin la yakhsha', wa min nafsil la tashba', wa min du'a'in la yusma'.
When to Read
This powerful supplication is vital for us as we navigate the digital landscape. When you find yourself overwhelmed by temptations, scrolling endlessly, or consuming content that stirs negative desires or fruitless thoughts, turn to this dua. Recite it especially before engaging with the internet, or when you feel your heart becoming hardened or your soul restless from digital excess.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity, focusing your intention on seeking Allah's help to control your senses and desires. Raise your hands slightly, as was the practice of the Prophet ๏ทบ in supplication. Believe in Allah's power to purify your heart and guard you against harmful influences. It's beneficial to internalize the meaning of each phrase, connecting your heart to the plea for divine assistance.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua directly addresses the root of many struggles in the digital age: the lack of beneficial knowledge, a hardened heart, an insatiable soul, and unanswered prayers (which can stem from the very things we seek refuge from). By asking Allah for taqwa (consciousness of Him), purification, and protection from these specific ailments, we're essentially asking for the inner strength to resist the allure of haram, the distractions of the virtual world, and the emptiness that can follow.
