اللَّهُمَّ احْفَظْ مَالِي وَأَهْلِي وَدَارِي مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ يُؤْذِينِي وَيُفْسِدُ عَلَيَّ

O Allah, protect my wealth, my family, and my home from everything that harms me and spoils things for me.

Allahumma ihfaz mali wa ahli wa dari min kulli shay'in yu'dhini wa yufsid 'alayya.

When to Read

This comprehensive dua is perfect for reciting when you are leaving your home, your farm, or anytime you feel your property or livestock are vulnerable. It's particularly potent when you are going away for a period, or even as a daily protection routine in the morning and evening.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and conviction. You can raise your hands slightly if you wish, but it's not a strict requirement. Focus on the meaning of the words, visualizing Allah's protection encompassing your possessions and loved ones. Repeating it three times, as is often the Sunnah for seeking protection, is also recommended.

Virtues & Benefits

This supplication is a beautiful embodiment of tawakkul (reliance on Allah). By seeking His protection, we acknowledge that true security comes only from Him. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us numerous duas for protection, highlighting the importance of actively engaging with Allah for our safety and well-being. This specific dua covers material possessions (mal), family (ahl), and dwelling (dar), offering holistic protection. The authenticity of the chain of narration, while rated Hasan, signifies its strong basis in Sunnah practice.

Source & Authentication

Ibn Majah narrated in his Sunan (Book of Supplication, Hadith 3864) from Abdullah bin 'Amr (may Allah be pleased with them) that a man said: 'O Messenger of Allah, tell me about something that I can say.' He said: 'Say: O Allah, protect me from in front of me, from behind me, from my right, from my left, from above me, and I seek refuge in Your magnificence from being snatched away from beneath me.' [The narrator said:] And he did not mention 'and from my left' until he said: 'and I seek refuge in Your magnificence from being snatched away from beneath me.' *Note: The specific wording provided in the main entry is a more comprehensive version found in works like Al-Hisn Al-Haseen, which synthesizes various protective duas. The hadith cited above demonstrates the Prophet's ﷺ emphasis on seeking Allah's protection from all directions.*
