Virtues & Benefits
This powerful dua, taught by our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, is a comprehensive plea for health and protection. When we ask for 'afiyah (well-being/protection) in our body, hearing, and sight, we are essentially asking Allah to safeguard us from all forms of harm that could enter through these channels. In the digital age, our hearing and sight are constantly exposed to stimuli. This dua helps us to consciously ask Allah to filter what we see and hear, protecting us from harmful desires and distractions that can easily take root through our senses.

It was narrated from 'Abdur-Rahman bin Abi Bakra that his father said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say three times in the morning: 'Allahumma 'afini fi badani. Allahumma 'afini fi sam'i. Allahumma 'afini fi basari. La ilaha illa anta. Allahumma ini a'udhu bika minal-kufri wad-dalalati. Allahumma ini a'udhu bika min 'adhabil-qabri, la ilaha illa anta.' (O Allah, grant me health in my body. O Allah, grant me health in my hearing. O Allah, grant me health in my sight. There is no god but You. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from disbelief and misguidance. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave. There is no god but You.) And he heard him say it twice in the evening.
