It was narrated from Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri that Jibril came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: "O Muhammad, are you suffering from any ailment?" He said: "Yes." He said: "In the name of Allah, I perform Ruqyah for you, from all ailments that harm you, from the evil of every soul, the evil eye of the envious, and the evil of the heat of the fire." [Sahih Muslim 2186]. Another narration states: It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that the Prophet ﷺ used to seek refuge in Allah for Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn, saying: 'I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from every devil, every poisonous creature, and every evil eye.' Then he would say: 'This is what Ibrahim used to seek refuge in for his children, seeking refuge in Allah from every devil, poisonous creature and evil eye.' [Sahih al-Bukhari 3371]. And the specific dua taught for general protection is: It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: "I have been stung by a scorpion." He said: "If you had said, when evening came: 'A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq' (I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created), it would not have harmed you."
