اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ
O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me with Your bounty, so that I may not need to seek from anyone other than You.
Allahumma-kfini bihalalika 'an haramika wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak
When to Read
This powerful dua is particularly relevant when facing financial hardship or the burden of debt. It's a beautiful supplication to turn to Allah in times of need, seeking His provision and protection from unlawful means. You can recite it anytime, but it's especially fitting after Salah (prayer), during times of worry, or whenever you feel the weight of financial concerns.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincere intention and conviction, believing in Allah's ability to provide. Make it a habit, perhaps incorporating it into your daily supplications after your obligatory prayers. The essence of this dua lies in acknowledging Allah as the ultimate provider and seeking His halal (lawful) sustenance above all else. It's about asking for enough to keep you away from what is unlawful and to make you independent of others.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encapsulates a comprehensive request for financial well-being. By asking Allah to suffice us with His lawful provision, we're essentially praying for sustenance that is pure and blessed, free from any ill-gotten gains. Seeking to be enriched by His bounty means asking for a level of provision that makes us content and independent, not reliant on the creation. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua to his companion Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) when he complained of mounting debt, and it is known to be effective in helping to clear debts and attain financial stability through lawful means. It fosters Tawakkul (reliance on Allah) while also encouraging us to seek lawful opportunities for earning.
