Prophetic Duas
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 1599

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure provision, and accepted deeds.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.

When to Read

This is a profound dua the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would recite after the Fajr (dawn) prayer. It’s perfect for the start of your day, setting a positive and productive intention. Reciting it consistently can help you approach each day with a focus on what truly matters: spiritual growth, righteous actions, and sustenance that pleases Allah.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and deep reflection after completing the Fajr prayer. Raise your hands, as is customary when making dua. Focus on the meaning of each phrase, asking Allah with certainty that He will grant your requests. Visualize the peace that comes from seeking beneficial knowledge, the contentment from pure sustenance, and the satisfaction of performing deeds that are accepted by our Creator.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates three essential pillars for a balanced and fulfilling life in Islam. Beneficial knowledge (ilman nafi'an) guides us and protects us from error. Pure provision (rizqan tayyiban) ensures that our livelihood is lawful and pleasing to Allah, removing worries about worldly sustenance. Accepted deeds ('amalan mutaqabbalan) are the ultimate goal, as they are what will weigh heavily on the scales on the Day of Judgment. By seeking these three, the Prophet ﷺ was essentially asking for the means to live a life that is pleasing to Allah, which inherently leads to inner peace and contentment.
