O Allah, I seek protection for you two with Allah's perfect words, from every devil and every beast, and from every evil eye.
Allahumma inni u'idhukuma bikalimatillahit-tammati min kulli shaytanin wa hāmmatin, wa min kulli 'aynin lāmmatin.
When to Read
This is a beautiful du'a to recite for children, especially when they are unwell or you feel they might be affected by the evil eye. It's also a general protection du'a you can make for any loved one. The Prophet ﷺ would recite this for his grandsons Hasan and Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them).
How to Read
Recite this du'a with sincerity and conviction, picturing Allah's protection enveloping the child. You can gently blow on the child after reciting, as the Prophet ﷺ is reported to have done in other instances of seeking protection (Sahih al-Bukhari 5039).
Virtues & Benefits
This du'a invokes Allah's perfect words as a shield. It signifies seeking refuge in the Almighty from all forms of harm, whether from unseen evils like devils (shayatin), or from physical ailments (hāmmatin - referring to harmful creatures or even general afflictions), and specifically from the evil eye ('aynin lāmmatin). It reflects the Prophet's ﷺ profound concern and reliance on Allah for the well-being of his family.
