اللَّهُمَّ أَكْثِرْ لَهُ مَالَهُ وَوَلَدَهُ، وَأَطِلْ حَيَاتَهُ، وَاغْفِرْ ذَنْبَهُ

O Allah, increase his wealth and his children, lengthen his life, and forgive his sins.

Allahumma akthir lahu malahu wa waladahu, wa atil hayatahu, waghfir dhanbahu

When to Read

This is a powerful supplication that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ made for his dear companion Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him). While it was a specific dua made at a particular time, we can draw inspiration from it. You can make a similar dua for yourself, your children, or anyone you wish well, asking Allah for increased provision, a long and blessed life, and forgiveness. It's particularly poignant to make this kind of dua during times of personal reflection or after performing good deeds, seeking Allah's blessings.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and heartfelt conviction. Picture Allah's immense mercy and power as you call upon Him. Raise your hands in supplication as was the practice of the Prophet ﷺ. Focus on the specific requests: abundance in wealth and offspring, a long life filled with good deeds, and complete forgiveness. Remember that sincere dua is a direct connection to Allah, and He loves to hear from His servants.

Virtues & Benefits

The dua made for Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) resulted in him living a remarkably long life, becoming very wealthy, having a large progeny, and passing away after having 100 children and grandchildren. This Hadith highlights the immense barakah (blessing) that can come from the dua of the Prophet ﷺ. It also shows us the immense value Allah places on sincere supplication. By reflecting on this dua, we are reminded to ask Allah for these specific blessings in our own lives, understanding that He is the ultimate source of all good.

Source & Authentication

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet ﷺ entered the mosque, and the people followed him. He went to his house and prayed eight rak'ahs. I said: 'I do not know if he prayed the Duha prayer or not.' Then I went to the women, and they were praying. I said: 'How should I pray for you?' They said: 'Tell him to make dua that we may be saved from hell.' So I came to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said: 'O Allah, forgive the family of Abu Waqid.' Then he said: 'O Allah, increase his wealth and his children, and lengthen his life, and forgive his sins.' (Anas said) 'I am one of the children of Abu Waqid, and my wealth has increased so much that it is difficult to count, and my children and grandchildren number one hundred.'
