When to Read
This is a beautiful dua that can be made for anyone, especially for those facing financial hardship or seeking barakah (blessings) in their provision. It's particularly poignant when we think of our own sustenance or that of our loved ones. We can recite this dua for ourselves, our family, friends, or anyone we wish well for, hoping Allah showers them with His mercy and multiplies their blessings.
How to Read
This dua is simple yet profound. Begin by sincerely intending to ask Allah for His immense favors. Raise your hands (optional but recommended for asking Allah directly) and recite the Arabic phrase with humility and conviction. Focus on the meaning: seeking forgiveness, asking for Allah's mercy, and specifically requesting barakah in sustenance. It's best recited with a heart full of hope in Allah's power to grant.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua, as made by the Prophet ﷺ for Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), highlights the importance of seeking Allah's blessing in all aspects of life, particularly in rizq (sustenance). When we ask Allah to bless our provision, we are not just asking for more wealth, but for the quality of contentment, ease, and purity in whatever He provides. This dua encapsulates seeking Allah's pleasure through forgiveness and mercy, which are the keys to true success in this life and the hereafter. The Prophet's ﷺ supplication is a powerful example of how we should ask Allah, combining requests for both worldly and otherworldly well-being.

Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I went to the Prophet ﷺ and asked him for a loan. He said to me: 'What about the date palms of our clan?' I said: 'They have been counted and measured.' He said: 'I have a debt, and I have no money.' I said: 'I will pay it for you.' He said: 'If you do so, then Allah will fulfill your debt.' So I paid it for him, and he said: 'O Allah, forgive him, have mercy upon him, and bless him in his sustenance.' And I did not die until the dates of our clan had increased sevenfold.
