May Allah bless you in His gift to you, may you give thanks to the Giver, may the child reach the age of maturity, and may you be granted its righteousness.

Barakallahu laka fil-mauhubi laka, wa shakaral-wahiba laka, wa balagha ashuddahu, wa ruziqta birrahu.

Source & Authentication

Narrated Abu Hurairah: When a child was born to one of them, they would bring him to the Prophet (ﷺ). He would ask for a boy or a girl and utter the words: 'Barakallahu laka fil-mauhubi laka, wa shakaral-wahiba laka, wa balagha ashuddahu, wa ruziqta birrahu.' (May Allah bless you in His gift to you, may you give thanks to the Giver, may the child reach the age of maturity, and may you be granted its righteousness.) This hadith highlights the practice of seeking blessings for the newborn through specific supplications taught by the Prophet (ﷺ).

Dua for a Newborn's Healthy Eyesight and Vision

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the cessation of Your blessings, the change of Your protection, the suddenness of Your vengeance, and all of Your displeasure. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from distress and sorrow, from incapacity and laziness, from cowardice and stinginess, and from the burden of debt and the overpowering of men. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness, from cowardice and stinginess, and from the helplessness of old age. And I seek refuge in You from the trials of the grave, and the punishment of the grave, and the trials of the Fire, and the punishment of the Fire, and the evil of the trials of wealth, and the evil of the trials of poverty, and the evil of the trials of the False Messiah (Dajjal). O Allah, cleanse my heart with the water of snow and hail, and purify me from sins as a white garment is purified from dirt, and keep me far from my sins as You have kept far the East and the West. O Allah, forgive me my mistake, and my ignorance, and my extravagance in my affairs, and whatever You know better of me. O Allah, forgive me my jesting and my seriousness, my mistake and my deliberate (sin), and all of that is with me. O Allah, forgive me what I have sent forth and what I have delayed, and what I have concealed and what I have done openly, and whatever You know better of me. You are the One Who sends forth and You are the One Who delays; there is none worthy of worship but You.
