I seek protection for him/her with the perfect words of Allah, from every devil and every beast, and from every evil eye.
U'eezuhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min kulli shaytanin wa hāmmatin, wa min kulli 'aynin lāmma
When to Read
This dua is traditionally recited by parents or guardians upon the birth of a child. It can be recited immediately after birth, during the Aqiqah (the sacrifice for a newborn), or at any time to invoke Allah's protection for the child. You can whisper it into the child's ear, blow gently on them while reciting, or simply make it with sincere intention for their well-being and righteous upbringing.
How to Read
Recite with sincerity and conviction, believing in Allah's power to protect. It's recommended to face the Qiblah if possible, though not strictly necessary. You can place your hand on the child's head or forehead while reciting. The intention is paramount: to entrust the child to Allah's care and to seek His guidance for them.
Virtues & Benefits
Seeking Allah's protection for a newborn is a beautiful expression of a parent's love and responsibility. This dua invokes divine safeguarding against unseen evils like demonic influences ('shaytan') and the harmful effects of the evil eye ('ayn'). By making this supplication, parents are actively seeking Allah's blessing and care for their child's physical and spiritual well-being, laying a foundation for a life of piety.
