My Lord, establish prayer for me and [also] my offspring. Our Lord, and accept [my] supplication.
Rabbij'alni muqeemas-salaati wa min dhurriyyati, Rabbanaa wa taqabbal du'aa.
When to Read
Recite this dua regularly, especially when you feel your patience waning during the challenging teething phase. It's particularly beneficial during Fajr or after any obligatory prayer, asking Allah to bless your efforts as a parent and to grant your child righteousness.
How to Read
Raise your hands as you would in supplication. Utter the words with sincerity and conviction, focusing on the meaning. Reflect on your role as a parent and your deep need for Allah's help. Visualize your child growing up well, and your own heart filled with gratitude for the blessing of motherhood/fatherhood, even amidst difficulties.
Virtues & Benefits
This beautiful supplication, taught by Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) in the Quran, covers several vital aspects. It asks Allah to help you establish prayer, a cornerstone of our faith, and to make your offspring mindful of prayer. This implicitly includes asking for their overall good character and righteousness. By asking for acceptance of your supplication, you are seeking Allah's pleasure and help in all your endeavors, including raising your children through tough times like teething. It fosters a sense of reliance on Allah and reminds us that parenthood, in its entirety, is a trust from Him, for which we need His constant support and guidance.
