In the name of Allah. O Allah, [this child is] Your servant, son of Your female servant. He has come to You in need, other than You. He has taken refuge in Your shade and has been fortified by Your fortress. So let him taste of Your sweetness, and of Your blessings, and protect him from Your afflictions. Suffice him in his needs, and save him from the punishment of the Fire.
Bismillah, Allahumma 'abduka wabnu amatika, nazala bika hajatun ghayruka, wa laja'a ila dhillika, wa hus sina bi-hisnika, fa adhiqhu min sukkrika, wa min barakatika, wa 'afihi min suqmika, wakfihi mu'natahu, wa qihi 'adhaban-nar.
When to Read
This supplication is traditionally recited when a child is born, or when the first signs of teething appear. It is a beautiful way to entrust the newborn's well-being, including their physical development like teeth and gums, into Allah's care from the very beginning.
How to Read
This dua is meant to be recited by the parent or guardian for the newborn. It is best recited with sincerity and conviction, perhaps gently blowing onto the child's head or hands after reciting, as was the practice of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ with his children and grandchildren. It can be a quiet, personal moment of supplication.
Virtues & Benefits
While this specific dua doesn't directly mention teeth and gums, its general nature of seeking Allah's protection, blessings, and sufficiency covers all aspects of a child's development and well-being. By asking Allah to 'let him taste of Your sweetness, and of Your blessings,' we are asking for good health, growth, and ease in all matters, which would naturally include the development of strong teeth and healthy gums. It's a holistic prayer for the child's life.
