Virtues & Benefits

This practice, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to his grandsons Hasan and Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them), offers comprehensive spiritual protection for the newborn. It invokes Allah's perfect words as a shield against unseen harms, harmful creatures, and the negative effects of envy or the evil eye, ensuring a blessed and safeguarded start to life.

Source & Authentication

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) said: 'The Prophet (ﷺ) used to seek refuge with Allah for Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn, saying: 'I seek protection for you both with Allah's perfect words, from every devil and every beast, and from every evil eye.' Then he would say: 'Abraham (peace be upon him) used to seek refuge with Allah for Ishmael and Isaac (peace be upon them) with these words.'

Dua for a Newborn's Healthy Eyesight and Vision

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the cessation of Your blessings, the change of Your protection, the suddenness of Your vengeance, and all of Your displeasure. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from distress and sorrow, from incapacity and laziness, from cowardice and stinginess, and from the burden of debt and the overpowering of men. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness, from cowardice and stinginess, and from the helplessness of old age. And I seek refuge in You from the trials of the grave, and the punishment of the grave, and the trials of the Fire, and the punishment of the Fire, and the evil of the trials of wealth, and the evil of the trials of poverty, and the evil of the trials of the False Messiah (Dajjal). O Allah, cleanse my heart with the water of snow and hail, and purify me from sins as a white garment is purified from dirt, and keep me far from my sins as You have kept far the East and the West. O Allah, forgive me my mistake, and my ignorance, and my extravagance in my affairs, and whatever You know better of me. O Allah, forgive me my jesting and my seriousness, my mistake and my deliberate (sin), and all of that is with me. O Allah, forgive me what I have sent forth and what I have delayed, and what I have concealed and what I have done openly, and whatever You know better of me. You are the One Who sends forth and You are the One Who delays; there is none worthy of worship but You.
